Kylar's Nursery Inspiration

I'm so excited about decorating another nursery, you have no idea! I have spent literally hours on Pinterest and other idea boards to get inspiration for Kylar's room. Right now, I think we're going to do white and bright gray stripes, green accents and frogs. There are so many great color combinations out there for baby rooms, it was hard to pick just one, but I figured this one won't look so "baby-ish" quite so soon, and what little boy doesn't love frogs?

So here are some of the pictures I'm using as inspiration for his room. I can't wait to move and get started on decorating it!

I really love this bed set, just wish it had
less brown and more gray.

I would love to do this but with spray-painted
gray frames and different sized green letters.

I really want to make this pillow, I just
have ZERO sewing skills. Mom?

I strongly desire this rocker.
How cute is it?!

This is the idea behind the stripes and
color accents.

I'm thinking dark gray letter K with
light gray dragonflies instead of brown.

Time for a Boy! (Gender Reveal Party)

I realized that it's been so long since I updated, that I hadn't even posted that we are having a BOY in October! We found out right at 18 weeks, but held out on telling anyone till about a week later, when we told family and close friends at a small gender reveal party. I guess it wasn't a huge surprise, since everyone had been hoping for a boy and I had previously mentioned that my motherly instincts told me it was a boy. I don't think anyone was disappointed - I know Josh certainly isn't! :)

Family Vacation Pictures and Memories

One of my favorite places on the planet is a state park in southern West Virginia, Pipestem State Park. My family has been going yearly since I was Aria's age, and I've only missed the annual vacation twice in all those years. It makes my heart so happy that Aria will grow up with family memories at some of the same places I did. She will learn to swim at the same pool, play on the same (although recently updated) play grounds, explore the same mountains and hopefully grow close to the same family as I did.

When I was growing up we camped in the adjacent campground, but at this point in our lives, our families have all been "camping" in the cabins. I hope to some day convince Josh to rent an RV and camp in the campground at least one year when the kiddos are growing up. I have such great memories of bikes rides through the campground, dinners over an open fire and falling asleep to the sound of crickets and raccoons rustling outside our camper. :) Josh isn't quite sure he's up to "roughing it." Our cabins come with hot, running water, electricity and a fully functional kitchen. It's the most luxurious "camping" experience you can imagine ;)

Unfortunately, Aria was in a kind of crabby, clingy mood most of the week due to teething, so we didn't get as many pictures of her with family members as I had hoped, but here are a few. I hate that she only sees this part of the family twice a year, but when we get together, we really make the most of it :)

This year, Aria learned how to swim with her swimmies all by herself and played on the playground. The swings and slide were, as usual, her favorites. She loves climbing up the stairs on her own and sliding down all by herself. She also loved walking around the cul-de-sacs and watching for deer. I can't wait to make more memories as the years go on with our new baby boy and new family members coming in.

That's what she said

Aria's really starting to say a lot of funny things right now in her efforts to become more communicative with human-kind. Of course, as her mom, I think everything she says is adorable, but some of them I really didn't want to forget, so I'm writing them down now.

She's starting her counting and ABC's, but can't really get them in the right order. Counting normally goes like "2, 9, 3, 9, 9!" and her ABC's always end with D.

Her favorite foods right now are fruits, especially "boo-berries" and "matter-melon" although "ta-ta's" are a close second.... don't know what a ta-ta is? That's ok - it took us a couple of weeks. It's a strawberry, and no, we have no idea why she calls them that.
Learning to eat with a spoon
all by herself

She now very clearly says "tank you" and - my favorite - "bwess you," but only says "welcome" if you remind her. She'll say "pwees" all day long if it gets her food, which it usually does. You just can't resist those big eyes and adorable little mouth as she points at your food and says, "mommy, pwees?" It's too cute.

She still loves Elmo, although she's starting to learn the rest of the Sesame Street muppets and is falling in love with every single one of them. Current favorites are Burt and Ernie and Abbie, the fairy, although Cookie Monster held a special place in her heart for a long time. I think it's because they shared a common interest.
She now also loves cartoons with "mong-eeeees" (monkeys) in them, specifically Curious George.
She's going through another "bookie" phase where she wants to read a couple books every time she goes down or wakes up from a nap. I don't at all mind this, but one can only read "Go, Dog, Go" so many times.

Swimming all by herself on
family vacation.
Her new favorite summertime pastime is swimming, hands down. She gets incredibly excited whenever you start talking about "the cool" or pulling out towels and bathing suits. She's actually quite good at it, and is completely fearless in the water.

She still doesn't have a huge interest in dolls, but her love of shoes far and above makes up for it. It dosn't matter if they're infant sized booties, Uncle Zak's work shoes or anything in between, she wants to wear them and walk around the house. Her shoes, though? Well, she'll take those off first chance she gets...

I can't believe my baby girl is going to be 2 in less than a month. It's crazy how time flies.
